The NASA Gas Detector is an essential safety device for any boat using LPG. It monitors the concentration of LPG (butane or propane) and give visual and audible warning if it rises above 10% of the lowest explosive level (LEL). The system consists of a cabin mounted monitor and a splashproof remote sensor supplied with 5m cable. The sensor features a test button to check the complete system. In addition, the fail-safe system will warn of fault conditions such as damaged cables etc. The sensor element is a user-replaceable part in the event of contamination. You can optiionally add an external sounder or other device to the monitor unit. The output current is 100mA so if a higher load is required a relay must be used. Liquified petroleum gas (LPG) is an invaluable source of energy on many sailing vessels. It should, however, be used with great care. In its gaseous form it is heavier than air and will always collect at the lowest level in a vessel. Any leak of gas, any spillage of liquid could sink to the bilge and, unable to escape, build up to explosive proportions. Technical Specifications See the manual here
